Podcast Review
by Cassidy Brydon, FAU Graduate Student | Thursday, Sep 26, 2019Podcasts are a great resource for a wide range of people. I personally like podcasts because they make the menial interesting. For example, cleaning my room, doing self-care, or driving to and from campus. Podcasts are also a great resource to get information about mental health and mindfulness practices. Below you can find 3 podcasts with my personal review. You can find these podcasts on iTunes or Spotify.

The podcast features the science behind the practice, a personal review of the practice, and recommendations on how you, the listener, can implement the practice.
Review: 5/5
I personally love this podcast. As a psychology student, I find it enjoyable to learn about practices and theories that I may not learn about in class. As a human being, I enjoy learning about ways to improve my mood, life, and health. This podcast is not too long nor too short. The target audience is college students, which makes the information very relatable and applicable. Perfect for a commute or just a walk around the neighborhood.
Before Breakfast with Laura Vanderkam
~5-10mins
Synopsis: Tidbits on productivity perfect for an early morning boost. The podcast shares helpful tips on time and stress management, healthy habits, and motivating life practices.
Review: 4.5/5
This podcast is perfect for a quick pick-me-up. The tips are easily implemented in your daily life and the short nature of the podcasts makes it easy to sneak in while I’m walking to class. I really like the fact that the tips provided are applicable and supported by research, experts, and/or personal testimony. Perfect for a quick pick-me-up or inspiration to get your life together.
Meditation Minis Podcast with Chel Hamilton
~10-15mins
Synopsis: This meditation podcast is designed for the busy person. The meditations are guided by Chel Hamilton to help with anxiety, negative thinking, and confidence. The meditations are great for meditation novices, proficients, and experts alike.
Review: 4.5/5
This podcast is NOT one to drive to. Chel Hamilton has a very soothing voice and has really helped me develop my meditation skills. I personally like this meditation podcast because it is so short. I’m not very good at sitting still for prolonged periods of time (unless I’m binge watching Netflix) and this podcast gives me the chance to practice my mindfulness without getting distracted or overwhelmed. I highly recommend these Meditation Minis for anyone interested in learning about and practicing meditation for the first, tenth, or hundredth time.
