Niina Pollari


Niina Pollari is a poet, editor, translator, and graduate of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 2006. Niina’s thesis, "…At the Ear of Eve: Hearing, Gender, and the Physiology of the Fall in John Milton’s Paradise Lost," won an honorable mention in the Undergraduate Studies Essay Competition from Early English Books Online, in 2006. This led to an invitation to present her research at the Milton Symposium at the University of London in 2008.

Upon graduation from the Honors College, Niina attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she received her Master’s in Creative Writing (Poetry) in 2008. Since then, she's published two full-length poetry books: Dead Horse (Birds, LLC 2015) and Path Of Totality (Soft Skull 2022). She's also the translator, from the Finnish, of Tytti Heikkinen's poetry collection The Warmth of the Taxidermied Animal. Her work has appeared in Poetry, Granta, Bennington Review, Pitchfork, LA Review of Books, Poetry Society of America, and elsewhere.
