MRI Safety Committee (MRISC)

Welcome to the MRI SafetyCommittee for FAU

Purpose of the committee:

The committee is charged by the Vice President for Administrative Affairs to oversee compliance with policy and procedures related to the use of MRI at FAU, including approval of research protocols utilizing the FAU MRI Facility. The MRI Safety Committee (MRISC) is administered by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. 

FAU Membership includes:

  • MRI Medical Director
  • Radiologist
  • MRI Physicist
  • MRI Technologist
  • Radiation Safety Officer
  • Biological Safety Officer
  • Attending Veterinarian
  • Researchers using MRI

Submitting MRI Protocol Applications: 
 
  • All protocols require approvals in accordance with MRISC002 (listed above).
  • Submit completed MRI Protocol applications to EH&S at ehs@fau.edu.  Include copies of associated proposed or approved research protocols (IRB, IACUC, IBC, etc.), consent forms, and associated test forms, as appropriate.  
  • Protocol applications can be submitted at any time.  Applications received less than 1 month prior to the next scheduled meeting, may be delayed until the following meeting.
