Florida Atlantic University is excited to host the 2025 Conference of Florida Graduate Schools, April 7-8! Centered on the theme Shaping the Future of Graduate Education in Changing Times , the conference will unite leaders, faculty, students, and professionals from Florida’s graduate institutions to address the evolving needs of graduate education in today’s dynamic landscape.
Participants will explore important issues in graduate education and enjoy a unique forum to connect with leaders in their fields, exchange ideas, and share information. The conference will feature the Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium and the Statewide Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, providing exceptional opportunities for participants to showcase research and collaborate. Graduate deans, associate and assistant deans, faculty and staff, as well as graduate students and education-related administrators, are all welcome. All participants are required to register for the 2025 Conference of Florida Graduate Schools, April 7-8.
Student Presentations
Each institution may send one graduate student for the Statewide Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition and one graduate student per category for the poster presentations at the Statewide Graduate Research Symposium. Only presentations from graduate students will be judged on-site and be eligible for recognition, which will be announced on the afternoon of April 8th, 2025.
Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium
The Statewide Graduate Research Symposium celebrates and recognizes the outstanding scholarly accomplishments of Florida graduate students. This event highlights the importance of graduate education and research and their role in promoting knowledge.
The Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium will take place on April 8th, 2025.
The categories are:

Arts, Humanities, and Communication
- For research related to visual and performing arts, literature, history, philosophy, media studies, and communication.

Social Sciences, Business, and Education
- For research in psychology, sociology, social work, business, economics, criminal justice, and education.

Biological, Health, and Life Sciences
- For research in biology, medicine, nursing, public health, and related life sciences.

Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science
- For research in engineering, technology, and computer science.

Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies
- For research in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science
Guidelines:
- Abstracts must be no longer than 250 words
- Posters must be no larger than 36” X 48”
- Easels and foam core boards will be provided for poster presenters
- Poster session will be 1 hour and 45 minutes long
E-mail notifications will be sent by the first week of April, providing all participants with details about presentation locations and times.
Students must register using the registration link to participate in the presentations on or before March 21, 2025. Registration will serve as confirmation of student participation, and they will receive additional requests regarding their presentation details after completing registration.
Statewide Three Minute Thesis (3MT®)
The Statewide 3MT® competition challenges graduate students to summarize their research in three minutes to a live audience. The University of Queensland developed the contest in 2008 to help graduate students improve their oral communication skills. The competition is presently held at more than 900 universities worldwide.
The 3MT® competition will take place on April 8th, 2025.
Rules:
- Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum and competitors exceeding 3 minutes are disqualified.
- Presentations are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).
- Presentations are considered to have commenced when a presenter starts their presentation through either movement or speech.
- A single static PowerPoint slide is permitted. No slide transitions, animations or movement) and is to be presented from the beginning of the oration.
- No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted.
- No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment) are permitted.
- The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.

This year’s conference hotel will be at the Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel. A block of rooms has been set aside for conference attendees at a special low rate of $189/night for Sunday, April 6, 2025 – Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Driving Directions
- From I-95, take the Glades Road exit #45 and travel east
- From the Florida Turnpike, take the Glades Road exit #75 and travel east
- Turn north (left) at the traffic light at the intersection of Glades Road and W University Drive/NW 10th Avenue. This is the main entrance to the university.
- As you enter the campus, you'll find an information booth immediately on your right. Continue heading north on W University Drive, then turn left at the third traffic light to reach the Schmidt Family Complex.
Parking
If you are driving and parking at Florida Atlantic, you will need to park in the Executive Education Parking Garage on the 4th Floor.
