After more than a decade as a Guest Artist with the FAU Department of Theatre and Dance, Caryl joined the department full-time for the inauguration of the BFA in Musical Theatre program.

A Carbonell, Silver Palm and Remy Award-winning Music Director and Pianist, Caryl’s work has been heard at Carnegie Hall and Off-Broadway’s York Theatre, the esteemed 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle and Florida’s Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Theatre Lab, Zoetic Stage, Palm Beach Dramaworks, Actors’ Playhouse, City Theatre, Hippodrome Theatre, Slow Burn Theatre and other regional theatres around the U.S.

Caryl has supervised vocal group performances for events including the Tony Awards and the South Florida presentation of Hugh Jackman’s World Tour, as well as played in concert with Andrea Bocelli, Liz Callaway, Beth Malone, Tovah Feldshuh and other acclaimed performers. Some of her other favorite projects include serving as Producer and Music Director of South Florida’s Carbonell Awards; Music Director of the Cappies; and Co-Creator, Director and Music Director of Once Upon a Dream, the community-wide production celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the City of Coral Springs.

She also enjoys developing musicals, and has done vocal arrangements for a number of new shows and served as Music Director for more than two dozen shows in development, in addition to composing her own work, including the new musical Fish Head Soup.

Educating the next generation of theatre artists is a passion of Caryl’s, and she spent years leading musical theatre programs for children and teens in New York and Florida, and has long been a Guest Artist with the West Boca Raton Community High School Performing Arts Academy, in addition to presenting workshops and collaborating with other high school and university programs throughout the Tri-County region.

A member of the Broward County Cultural Council and the South Florida Theatre League, Caryl is an active arts advocate. Transplanted New Yorkers, Caryl and her drummer husband Roy raised their family in South Florida and have been part of the South Florida arts community for more than 25 years.
