FAU Receives Largest Gift in School History
Thursday, Nov 19, 2020This week, we announced the largest gift in FAU history – $20 million from benefactors Kurt and Marilyn Wallach. This transformational gift will create the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Institute for Holocaust and Jewish Studies in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
A portion of this generous gift will be used to construct a building or building addition on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, which will serve as the hub for Holocaust, human rights and Jewish studies education programs. The gift also will support the establishment and operation of the institute, which will offer research and educational programs with a mission of deterring hate, bias and discrimination.
Kurt and Marilyn lost family members during the Holocaust and share a lifelong commitment to ensuring the lessons of this atrocity remain relevant today and to future generations. It is their hopes that through education, lives will be saved and history will not be repeated.
We are honored and grateful for Kurt and Marilyn Wallach’s tremendous generosity. This historic gift will ensure that Holocaust, Jewish studies and human rights education will continue to build bridges of understanding and empathy for generations to come.
