Presidential Awards and Honorary Doctorates
Florida Atlantic University has established several awards to honor those who have rendered service of exceptionally high value to the University and the community at large. Two of those awards – the President's Distinguished Service Medallion and the President's Talon Award – are presented by the University President. The FAU Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters is presented to individuals of outstanding achievement who are selected collaboratively by the President, the University Provost and the Honors and Awards Committee of the University Faculty Senate.

Florida Atlantic University awards the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree on a very selective basis to recognize eminent achievement in scholarship, outstanding achievement in the arts and/or high distinction in public service.
