Thank you, Marilyn and Jay Weinberg!
Wednesday, Apr 26, 2023I am pleased to share that Florida Atlantic has received $1 million from Marilyn and Jay Weinberg to support the University’s Holocaust, Jewish studies and human rights education programs. The Marilyn and Jay Weinberg Grand Lobby in the future Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Holocaust and Jewish Studies Building will be named in their honor.
This generous gift from the Weinbergs will create an endowment that provides support for faculty, staff and students; equipment; programming and ongoing care of the Wallach Building in perpetuity. Upon the building’s completion, the Weinberg Grand Lobby will be a central place for conversation and reflection on the lectures, exhibits and performances that will take place there. As longtime supporters of FAU, the Weinbergs’ previous contributions to the University have included funding to the Gutterman Family Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education, as well as scholarship support for students in the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program and the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
Now, more than ever, it is important that we sustain our Holocaust, Jewish studies and human rights programs at FAU. We sincerely appreciate this gift from the Weinbergs, which will contribute to that effort. It is an honor to have their support and we look forward to the tremendous impact it will have on our students and community.
