Shula Bowl Returns to Boca on Saturday

Thursday, Sep 12, 2024

This Saturday, Sept. 14, the Shula Bowl football game returns to FAU Stadium, where the Owls will face the FIU Panthers for the 22nd time in program history. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Shula Bowl, which began in 2002, is named in honor of former Miami Dolphins Head Coach Don Shula. Both schools’ inaugural head coaches had close ties to Shula: former FAU Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger was an assistant coach under Shula in the 1970s; and Don Strock, FIU’s former head coach, played under Shula in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Owls hold an all-time series record of 16-4 and a 10-1 record at home. This year marks the first time Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Tom Herman will lead the Owls against the Panthers in the rivalry game.

For the fourth year in a row, FAU Athletics is partnering with Boca Helping Hands and Cereal4All to host the Tackle Hunger Cereal Drive. Those who donate one or more unopened boxes of cereal will receive a free ticket to the game. Visit Gate 1 at FAU Stadium on game day to participate.

As a reminder, Florida Atlantic students receive free entry to all home football games and can claim their tickets here. All other ticket purchases, including season tickets, can be made here. I hope you will join me at FAU Stadium this Saturday as we cheer for our team in the Shula Bowl.

Go Owls!
