The Annual Pumpkin Drop and Physics Carnival Returns

Friday, Oct 28, 2022

Today, the Annual Pumpkin Drop and Physics Carnival returned to the Boca Raton campus after a temporary break due to social distancing. I was honored to take part in the event by dropping the first pumpkin from the roof of the Science Building, demonstrating basic physics principles such as constant acceleration of gravity, terminal velocity and Newton’s Laws.

Following the Pumpkin Drop, attendees enjoyed games, face painting, a special appearance by Astro the Robodog and more during the Physics Carnival. Special thanks to the FAU Physics Department and FAU Physics & Astronomy Club for sponsoring this fun and educational event for our community.

Tomorrow, be sure to attend the “Biggest Halloween Party in Boca Raton” at FAU Stadium, where FAU Football will face the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. As a reminder, home football games are free to all FAU students and tickets can be purchased at www.fausports.com. I hope to see you there cheering our team to victory!

Go Owls!
