Celebrate FAU Basketball at Paradise Madness

Monday, Oct 14, 2024

Basketball season is just around the corner! To celebrate, Florida Atlantic is hosting its fourth annual Paradise Madness event at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free. I encourage everyone in the community to join us as we kick off another season of Winning in Paradise.

During Paradise Madness, fans will meet the men’s and women’s basketball teams and hear from Head Coaches John Jakus and Jennifer Sullivan. The event includes a women's basketball skills challenge, a men's basketball dunk contest, a combined three-point shootout and a men's basketball scrimmage, along with several raffles and prizes for fans. For the past two seasons, the men’s basketball team has been one of the best in the nation, making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and being ranked in the AP Top 25 for many weeks. Under the new leadership of Head Coach John Jakus, the team will play an unofficial exhibition game against Saint Leo on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, where the Owls have a 30-1 record.

The men’s basketball regular season will begin Monday, Nov. 4 against Indiana State at a neutral site in Xenia, Ohio. The home opener is set for Friday, Nov. 8 against Coastal Georgia at Baldwin Arena. Conference play will begin at home against Memphis on Thursday, Jan. 2.
