Celebrating LGBT History Month
Thursday, Oct 01, 2020Today kicks off LGBT History Month, a nationwide celebration of the achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender icons. Established in 1994, LGBT History Month encompasses National Coming Out Day on October 11, and Spirit Day on October 15, a day to wear purple to support LGBTQ youth in a united stand against bullying.
Throughout October, FAU will host a number of LGBT History Month virtual events including workshops, discussions, and the annual Drag Show. Click here for the full schedule of events.
FAU is proud to be one of the most culturally diverse institutions in the nation, but we recognize that diversity is not limited to race, culture or national origin. Diversity also refers to the many ways that we self-identify. FAU is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and equitable environment for students, faculty, staff and our entire community, and that includes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Our LGBT+ Resource Center provides support and resources for LGBT+ students and members of the FAU community seeking to understand their experiences.
