Thank you, Arthur Gutterman!
Friday, Nov 13, 2020This week, FAU celebrated the naming of its Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education (CHHRE) in honor of Arthur Gutterman and his late wife, Emalie. The Guttermans began donating to the CHHRE in 2008, after Emalie read a news story about the possible closing of the Center. Arthur continued to support the CHHRE over the years – and encouraged others to join him – thus providing financial stability and visibility for the Center. His recent multimillion dollar gift will ensure the important work of the Center continues into perpetuity.
The Peace, Justice and Human Rights platform of FAU’s strategic plan highlights our commitment to promoting acceptance through education, research and community engagement. The Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Family CHHRE plays an especially important role in that effort, by preparing local K-12 educators and support staff to teach students about the Holocaust, through learning opportunities, resources and curriculum support.
We truly appreciate Arthur’s vision and commitment to FAU and the CHHRE for more than a decade. We are honored and privileged to have his family’s name on the Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Family CHHRE, which will continue serve as an invaluable resource to countless students, teachers and members of our community for generations to come.
