Fall 2020 Return-to-Campus #10 - University Libraries
Monday, Aug 24, 2020
As we begin the fall semester, the FAU Libraries have re-opened to FAU and Palm Beach State College students, faculty and staff. The virtual and concierge-style services in place since mid-March and outlined in the
Lib2Go
guide will continue and students can access all remote services from all campuses.
Due to health and safety guidelines and the frequent cleaning of public spaces, the library will not be able to serve as the collaborative gathering and active study place it would be in normal circumstances. As information changes throughout the coming weeks and months, members of the university community are encouraged to visit the What to Expect: Fall 2020 website.
Valid Owl cards and Palm Beach State College ID cards will be required for entry to FAU-controlled library facilities. Face coverings are required at all times and food/drink is not permitted.
- The Boca Raton campus library is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- The John D. MacArthur Campus library in Jupiter is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- The HBOI library is open at all times and requires swipe card access.
- Faculty, staff, and students in Davie should visit Broward College’s University/College Library website for information on in-person services and hours, and those in Fort Lauderdale should visit the Broward County Public Library website . Please adhere to all published safety guidelines .
In Boca Raton and Jupiter, only the first floor is open to visitors. All elevators and stairwells are closed. When maximum safe occupancy is reached, visitors are directed to other locations for study and computer access. Students are encouraged to limit their time in library buildings to accommodate others and be prepared to save their work to the cloud or a thumb drive; computer workstations will reboot after two hours of use. Printers and photocopiers need to be wiped down by visitors before and after use.
Among other safety measures in place, books need to be requested using an online form and will be delivered through low-contact or no-contact delivery methods; there is no physical course reserves available; and group study rooms are not available for checkout.
Library faculty and staff will be available for phone, email and virtual consultation but may not be present at the service desks, unless needed. Instruction sessions are available virtually, by appointment.
Welcome back, and Go Owls!
