A.D. Henderson and FAU High Receive National Recognition
Thursday, Oct 29, 2020FAU’s A.D. Henderson University School has a long history of excellence, garnering a number of national awards and recognition over the years for its success. I’m happy to share that, once again, Henderson has been ranked the No. 2 Best Public Elementary School in America and the No. 2 Best Public Elementary School in Florida by Niche, the largest website for researching public and private K-12 schools. Henderson also was ranked the No. 11 Best Public Middle School in America and the No. 2 Best Public Middle School in Florida.
FAU High School was ranked No. 2 in Niche’s list of the Best Public High Schools in Florida. FAU High also recently received a prestigious College Success Award from GreatSchools.org. Launched in 2018, the College Success Award honors schools that excel in ensuring students prepare for, and succeed in, college. FAU High’s dual-enrollment program allows students to work toward a bachelor’s degree while in still in high school, allowing them to graduate debt free. Many of these high-achieving students gain local and national media attention for earning their bachelor’s degrees before receiving their high school diplomas!
FAU High has produced its share of impressive students and alumni. The school is No. 1 out of all public and charter schools in the state for 2021 national merit semifinalists with 34. These high school seniors will now have the opportunity to compete for 7,600 National Merit scholarships worth more than $30 million. Additionally, FAU High alumna and current FAU student Hannah Herbst recently took first-place honors and a $10,000 cash prize in Florida Venture Forum’s Statewide Collegiate Startup Competition. Hannah and her company, Tiburon Technologies, LLC, developed an antimicrobial surgical wound dressing based upon the bioactive properties of shark skin.
Congratulations to the students, faculty and staff at A.D. Henderson and FAU High on these most recent accolades. Keep up the great work!
