A New Academic Year Begins

Welcome to the new academic year, Owls! I hope you had a wonderful summer and that you are ready to begin the fall semester. I’d also like to extend my best wishes to our newest students for a memorable and rewarding start to your journey with us.

For students who need help navigating our campuses this week, please feel free to ask any employees who are wearing a “Need Help? Just Ask” lanyard for assistance. Our University community understands the importance of supporting new students during this time of adjustment, and I am grateful for everyone’s efforts to ensure success.

Students also are encouraged to attend Florida Atlantic’s annual Red and Blue Weeks events, now through Sept. 3 on the Boca Raton, Broward and Jupiter campuses. Events range from social activities to educational sessions, including pizza with the Career Center, a First-Generation welcome reception, the College Colors Day celebration and more.

Additionally, the first home football game of the season is coming up at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7, against the Army Black Knights. As a reminder, tickets to home football games are always free for students. I look forward to seeing everyone at FAU Stadium cheering our Owls to victory during another exciting season of Football in Paradise.

Together, we are leading Florida Atlantic into a new era of excellence and I am inspired by everyone’s dedication to advance the University’s mission. This year, we will continue our upward trajectory by pursuing new milestones in key areas, especially in research and in student success. As we forge ahead, I look forward to building on our momentum and making this one of our most transformative years yet.
