It was another wonderful night in New York City for FAU, as the men’s basketball team defeated Kansas State 79-76 to win the East Regional Championship and advance to the Final Four! Following the game, the Empire State Building was lit red and blue in honor of our victory.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for any program, but especially for one that is just 35 years old. I commend Head Coach Dusty May and his staff for their leadership, and our players for their hard work, which certainly has paid off. This truly is a special team that deserves all of the national attention they are receiving.

Congratulations also to sophomore guard Alijah Martin on reaching 1,000 career points last night! He had a great game with a 17-point performance.

I want to thank all of the fans who traveled to New York to cheer on the team at Madison Square Garden. Your enthusiasm energized the players and helped propel them to victory. Thank you also to everyone who gathered at one of our many watch parties in South Florida, and to the fans who continue to show their support on social media. Everyone is invited to welcome the team home tonight at Baldwin Arena. We expect them to arrive at 7:30 p.m. Updates will be available at https://twitter.com/FAUAthletics.

Fans wishing to make a donation to support the team’s success can do so here. Additionally, you can show your Owl Pride by purchasing Final Four merchandise, available here.

The Owls will face the winner of the South Regional Championship, San Diego State, in Houston on Saturday, April 1, for a spot in the national championship game. Fans can request tickets here and students can request tickets here.

I look forward to cheering on the team in Houston next weekend. Go Owls!
