For only the second time in university history and the first time in more than 20 years, the men’s basketball team is in March Madness! The Owls are currently ranked No. 25 nationally and are the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament East Region. The team’s first contest is tonight against No. 8 seed Memphis. Tip off is at 9:20 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join us tonight at several locations to cheer on the Owls:

  • For fans in South Florida, we’ll have watch parties at Bru’s Room in both Boynton Beach and Coral Springs. For more information, visit https://faualumni.org/event/south-florida-watch-parties/.

  • Owls in Ohio are invited to a pre-game reception at Whistle & Keg, right across the street from Nationwide Arena. Additional details are available at https://faualumni.org/event/ncaa-tournament-columbus-reception/.

  • Students are invited to a Dive-In Watch Party at the Campus Recreation & Fitness Center pool. Everyone is encouraged to wear swimsuits, as the pool will be open. Floats, noisemakers and food will be provided.

Fans everywhere can show their Owl Pride by purchasing the official Dancing in Paradise T-shirt and other FAU merchandise. Additionally, C-USA Tournament Champions and NCAA March Madness licensed gear is available through a number of local and national retailers. Click here for more information.

The Owls’ success this season captured the attention of the South Florida community, as many home games sold out weeks in advance. It also earned national attention for the university. We’re very proud to be the No. 1 school in The 74’s Social Mobility Tournament Bracket, which ranked the schools invited to the Big Dance by their success in helping students achieve upward mobility, based on access, affordability and post-collegiate earnings. Additionally, Head Coach Dusty May and the team were featured on the “TODAY” show this Monday. Click here to watch the clip.

It has been a true pleasure to watch the basketball team’s success all season long, including breaking multiple records and earning its first Top 25 ranking. I wish the team the best of luck tonight against Memphis. Go Owls!
