Osher LLI at FAU Jupiter Presents Ken Adelman

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present two lectures by Ken Adelman, a U.S. ambassador and the former director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency under former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. and Thursday, Feb. 7 at 9 a.m., in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.
“Nuclear Jitters: North Korea, Iran and Other Bomb Scares,” will examine the latest dialogue from inside Washington between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea Leader Kim Jong-un. This one-time lecture will include discussion on the deal with Iran, the relationship with North Korea and how European nations are reacting to this approach taken by Trump’s administration.
“Whether to Get-Back or Let-Go: A Guide to Forgiveness,” will draw upon the wisdom of great thinkers to offer insights and practical steps for the process of forgiveness. Using case studies, Adelman and his wife, Carol, will offer a guide to forgiveness for societies and individuals.
Adelman was director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency for Reagan for five years. He served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and assistant to the U.S. secretary of defense. Adelman has taught both national security studies and Shakespeare at both Georgetown and George Washington universities. He also taught national security at Johns Hopkins University. He has published hundreds of articles and six books, including his most recent, “Reagan at Reykjavik,” which is being made into a feature film.
Carol Adelman is president of Movers & Shakespeares, the director of the Center for Global Prosperity at the Hudson Institute and a visiting professor at Indiana University’s School of Philanthropy. She served as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development and as a presidential appointee leading foreign aid programs in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
