FAU to Host Events in Honor of LGBTQ+ History Month
Florida Atlantic University will celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with a series of events for students, staff and faculty beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5, through Monday, Oct. 31 at its Boca Raton, Jupiter and Broward campuses.
The following events will be at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:
Queer Coffee Hour
Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Center for IDEAs, Student Union
The Center for IDEAs in collaboration with Victim Services will host a Queer Coffee Hour as a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join the staff and others for a discussion focused on domestic violence and the LGBTQ+ community. The event will take place in the Diversity Lounge within the Center for IDEAs. 12th Annual Drag Show
Friday, Oct. 7 from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium, Student Union

Kickoff FAU’s homecoming with the 12th annual drag show. The drag show will feature a night of entertainment performances using lip-synching and dance to highlight themes within the LGBTQ+ community and show the diversity of gender expression. The event will feature “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finalist Roxxxy Andrews with local artists Ariel Rimm, TP Lords, Nicky Monet, Velvet Lenore, Rianna Petrone and Katt Wilderness. This event is free for all FAU students, and the public can purchase a ticket for $10.
National Coming Out Day – Tabling Event
Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
FAU Breezeway
The event itself will be a combination of FAU pride and Hispanic/Latino/a/x Heritage Month cultures. Several of FAU’s culturally based student organizations will present in addition to food, crafts, music and dancing.
Coming Out Monologues
Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
House Chambers Room, Student Union
The Coming Out Monologues will acknowledge and make space for the potential difficulties of coming out while also encouraging everyone to find the “gold” in their stories. This may look like being embraced by family, finding community and chosen families, or finding love within oneself. The Rainbow Project Panel Discussion
Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Grand Palm Room, Student Union
In collaboration with SG Multicultural Programming Board, the panel discussion is designed to engage in conversation with faculty and staff who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Screening of Framing Agnes

After registering for the event, participants will receivie a confirmation email containing further information and location for the event. Join the Center for Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) as they screen the film, Framing Agnes.
