FAU Tech Runway® Hosts 2024 Maverick Reception

Florida Atlantic University’s Tech Runway® will host its 2024 Maverick Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at its site, 901 NW 35th St., Boca Raton campus. This energetic evening will celebrate a decade of regional economic impact through innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization.
Interactive exhibits from groundbreaking startups, engaging presentations, and networking opportunities highlighting the university’s decade-long commitment to advancing entrepreneurship across South Florida will be featured. FAU Tech Runway, the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship, Florida Atlantic WAVE and the Office of Tech Development also will be recognized for their transformative impact in the creation of opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the region.
FAU and community leaders scheduled to speak include FAU President Stacy Volnick; Gregg Fields, Ph.D., FAU vice president for research; Daniel Gropper, Ph.D, dean of FAU’s College of Business; and Fran Nachlas, CRA chair and council member for the city of Boca Raton.
“This year’s Maverick Reception brings together visionaries and leaders whose work has defined both our region’s economic landscape and the spirit of innovation at Florida Atlantic,” said Jessica Beaver, associate director of Tech Runway®.
The programs recognized have created pathways to success for entrepreneurs across all sectors, generating more than $310 million in revenue, raising more than $168 million in capital, creating more than 1,000 jobs, and empowering more than 2,000 innovators. The evening will honor the remarkable community that has fueled this success with special awards presented to sponsors, mentors and partners who have championed innovation and expanded entrepreneurial opportunities throughout South Florida.
Graduate achievements featuring entrepreneurs who have leveraged mentorship, education, marketing support, capital-raising assistance and networking to build successful ventures also will be showcased. Proceeds will benefit future program participants.
“Florida Atlantic’s entrepreneurship programs, resources and accomplishments exemplify how a vibrant ecosystem can dramatically and positively impact innovation throughout a community,” said Kevin Cox, Ph.D., director of the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship at FAU.
