Florida Atlantic University’s Division of Student Affairs and Division of Public Service will welcome motivational speaker Nick Vujicic on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. to the Carol and Barry Kaye Auditorium in FAU’s Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
Vujicic, a celebrated worldwide speaker from Australia, was born without limbs and was bullied so badly during his childhood that he attempted suicide at just 10 years old. He later found his purpose, and has shared his journey from despair to hope to sold-out crowds in 54 countries already. The event is open to only FAU students, and an OWL Card must be shown for admittance.
“This event supports our continued efforts to promote a culture of caring and responsibility at FAU,” said Corey King, vice president for student affairs. “His message will further educate our students on how to actively and appropriately stand strong and intervene when they see something of concern.”
Stand Strong USA (SSUSA), a Deerfield-beach based organization dedicated to empowering students and putting an end to bullying, teamed up with Vujicic to bring his story to FAU students.
“Stand Strong USA is proud to be working with Nick Vujicic and FAU to inspire and encourage FAU's students,” said Roy Moore, SSUSA founder and president. “Nick’s message of hope and inspiration is more relevant today than ever before.”
