FAU Celebrates 25th Annual Festival of Nations
Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Global Engagement and the Center for Inclusion, Diversity Education, and Advocacy, in partnership with Student Government and Multicultural Programming Board, will host the 25thannual Festival of Nations on Thursday, April 11 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on the Housing Lawn of the Boca Raton campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Festival of Nations is a core diversity event for the Division of Student Affairs, and an opportunity to connect with world cultures through dance, music, food tastings, exhibits, and hands-on activities.
The event will combine entertainment with education by connecting the world to FAU’s global diversity. Featured performances include:
• Step Afrika: a nationally and internationally renowned company that blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African-American fraternities and sororities, African traditional dance and influences from other dance and art forms.
• Lanakila’s Polynesian Show: a demonstration of the varied cultural influences that shaped the “Crossroad of the Pacific” through music, dance, stories, and audience participation.
• Art of Salsa: featuring a local dance school and performances by current FAU international students.
In addition to the high-energy of cultural performances, guests of all ages will experience culture through hands-on activities such as: dream-catcher education table (sponsored by Office Depot); children’s activity corner (sponsored by Boca Raton Library); rice writing; country displays; and multicultural student organization tables representing countries and regions from around the world.
