Marine mammal research
Program Overview

Marine mammal research began at Harbor Branch in 1996 with a National Marine Fisheries Service-authorized project to photo-identify and catalog every bottlenose dolphin in the Indian River Lagoon. From these roots the work has expanded and diversified into a research and conservation enterprise spanning multiple species and ecosystems, and today it yields insights into issues affecting oceans and human health.
