PROJECT
This project focuses on the development of an eye-safe, unobtrusive LiDAR detection and classification system for underwater surveillance of marine life. The LiDAR imager is capable of obtaining high contrast imagery 360° around its base with better than 1 centimeter spatial resolution, at a stand-off distance of at least 5 meters in typical clear coastal conditions. The undergraduate student will focus on experimental validation of the imaging system performance using data collected at the field sites. Such work is suitable for a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Physics student.
