Enjoy a few days in Nassau, The Bahamas
with leaders of FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute’s Queen Conch Lab and special guests who share a vision to restore the queen of the sea across the Caribbean. Learn more about conch research.

The Queen Conch Lab at FAU Harbor Branch has a vision to establish a queen conch farm in every Caribbean nation through the development of community-led aquaculture labs – both mobile and within existing infrastructure. Their programming is designed to help Caribbean nations establish key locations for protected adult conch populations to supply the eggs needed for the hatcheries and seed stocks. These labs will help to rebuild wild conch stocks by releasing thousands of aquaculture-reared juvenile conch and will aid in the restoration of the important ecosystem services that queen conch provide to local seagrass beds. These solutions, based on the lifelong work of Megan Davis, Ph.D., are being used Caribbean-wide and incorporate existing fisheries management techniques and local training that embrace the species, ecosystem, and people fueling blue economies.

The FAU Queen Conch Lab’s current partners include: The Bahamas (Great Exuma and Grand Bahama), Puerto Rico, Curaçao, Jamaica, St. Eustatius, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, and several others in various stages of development.

There has never been a more important time to help conserve and restore this key species to make lasting changes that will improve the health, economy, and future of the Caribbean region. Thank you for your support!
