Alyssa Gonzalez-DeHass
Dr. Alyssa Gonzalez-DeHass is a Full Professor of Educational Psychology for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education (COE). She joined the University in 1998 as an Assistant Professor, was promoted in 2004 to Associate Professor, and to Full professor in 2019. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology.
Dr. Gonzalez-DeHass has authored or co-authored five books in her field. Most recently she published her book Parent Involvement for Motivated Learners: Encouraging Self-Directed and Resilient Students with Routledge in 2020. One of her most widely cited articles (co-authored with Willems and Doan Holbein) was “Examining the Relationship between Parent Involvement and Student Motivation,” published in Educational Psychology Review in 2005. Her research interests include parental involvement, student motivation and achievement goals, and the case study method of instruction.
Dr. Gonzalez-DeHass is a reviewer for many internationally refereed journals in her area of expertise, and she serves on the editorial board for the School Community Journal which publishes research related to the school as a community of educators, students, and parents. During her time at FAU, she has served as a departmental representative on the COE Graduate Programs Committee, the COE Faculty Assembly Steering Committee, the COE Promotion and Tenure Committee, and as a program coordinator for Educational Psychology in the Department of Teaching and Learning.
