Canvas Q&A/Open Lab

3-4 hours of open lab time
The Canvas Q&A/Migration Open Lab gives instructors the opportunity to walk in and get the help they need when they want it. During the posted lab hours you can get answers to your Canvas questions and hands-on help with course migration, tips, and best practices while learning to use the new learning management system.

Canvas Primer 1

4 hours of open-lab time.

This Canvas Primer session covers the essentials to get you started in Canvas.

Learn how to:

  • Set up your profile and adjust your notification settings
  • Navigate the learning management system
  • Locate your courses
  • Use the Calendar
  • Use the Inbox
  • Add course files
  • Add your Syllabus
  • Post Announcements
  • Create Modules and Pages
  • Add Assignments and Discussions
  • Use Speedgrader
  • Get help and use the Canvas Community

Canvas Primer 2

1 hour

Ready to move past the basics? The Canvas Primer 2 session focuses on taking your Canvas course to the next level.

Learn how to:

 

  • Use Speedgrader
  • Better utilize Canvas Commons
  • Set up Rubrics
  • Set up and use Groups
  • Use the built-in Conference tools
  • Use the Gradebook

Tech-Talks

1 hour

Tech-Talks are short 45-minute sessions, with additional 15-minutes of Q&A. Tech-Talks focus on specific Canvas tools, such as the Grade Book, Discussion Boards, Assignments, and Quizzes.

  • How to create Quizzes
    • Quizzes can be used to conduct and moderate exams and assessments, both graded and ungraded.

    • Question Banks are a place to house questions that can be added to quizzes across courses or accounts.
