FAQs

Where do I go to log in to Canvas?

Go to  canvas.fau.edu and log in with your FAU netID and password.

When can I see my courses in Canvas?

Courses are loaded into Canvas around the advanced registration period (2-3 months before start of term). Students will see their courses once their instructors publish their courses. If you do not see your course on your Dashboard, click on the "Courses" button in the blue global navigation menu on the left and then click "All Courses." Alternatively, you can go to https://canvas.fau.edu/courses to access this list.

How do I learn to use Canvas?

Be on the lookout for various learning opportunities. Roadshows and Canvas Tech Talks will be offered at each college. A schedule of events can be found at techevents.fau.edu.

Tech Talks will also be available outside of the scheduled college visits. You can request group sessions, personalized one-on-one sessions, and virtual appointments. You can also view online how-to’s and videos to help get you started.

Can I use any browser with Canvas?

Canvas is web agnostic and is built with the latest HTML5 standards. What does that mean? It means you can typically use any web browser. Canvas officially supports the last two versions of every browser release. Canvas highly recommends that you update to the newest version of whichever browser you are using as well as using the most up-to-date flash plug-in.

As of October 18, 2016, Canvas supports the following versions of Flash and popular web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 11 and Edge.
  • Chrome 52 and 53
  • Safari 9 and 10
  • Firefox 48 and 49 (Extended Releases are not supported)
  • Flash 22 and 23 (used for recording or viewing audio/video and uploading files)
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)

Will I be able to use publishers’ resources?

Yes. All of our current publishers and third-party tools have integrations with Canvas, but they may integrate differently. Please reach out to your publisher representative to learn more about their integration with Canvas.

Will Canvas work on my tablet and phone?

Yes, however it is recommended that you use the Canvas Mobile App for iOS 8.0+ and Android 4.03+.
