Amy Broderick, Associate Professor: M.F.A., Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art; B.A. Phi Beta Kappa, College of William & Mary. Amy grew up surrounded by ideas unfolding in multiple languages, provoking her deep curiosity about ways we use and misuse language to locate ourselves. She makes monumental drawings and multimedia projects that layer components of language into obfuscated fields of mark and texture. Broderick views studio practice and university teaching as unified and equally important elements of creative life, and she focuses on exhibiting in public arts spaces and on university campuses. She has won numerous awards for teaching and scholarly activity, including an Honors Faculty Fellowship, Florida Individual Artist Fellowship, and South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Visual and Media Artists.
