FAU Football capped off an exciting season by defeating SMU 52-28 in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl at FAU Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 21. The Owls finished the season 11-3 and are just the second Conference USA team to win at least 11 games twice in three seasons. The team is now 4-0 in bowl games.
I’d like to congratulate Quarterback Chris Robison, who was named Offensive MVP of the Boca Raton Bowl; Linebacker Rashad Smith, who was selected as Defensive MVP of the game; and Punter Matt Hayball who received the Special Teams MVP award. Chris ended the season with 291 completions and 3,701 passing yards, breaking records Rusty Smith set in both categories in 2007. The FAU defense forced 33 turnovers this season, extending their program record in that category.
I’d also like to thank the marching band, spirit squads, and many loyal fans who cheered on the team all season long. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Congratulations again to the football team on an impressive season. We are very proud of you! Go Owls!
