This weekend, FAU Football won its first-ever Conference USA championship! The team defeated the University of North Texas 41-17, which is the largest margin of victory in C-USA Championship Game history. This was a banner year for the Owls, and I am tremendously proud of the team’s success. FAU Football finished the season on an impressive nine-game win streak, bringing our overall record to 10-3. The Owls are only the second team in C-USA history to finish with a 9-0 conference record.
I commend Coach Kiffin and his staff, along with all of our players, for working hard and playing with Unbridled Ambition
® all season long. I’d especially like to congratulate wide receiver Kalib Woods, who was named Most Valuable Player of the game. His 208 receiving yards were a program single-game record and the second-most in C-USA Championship Game history. FAU running back Devin Singletary tied the C-USA single-season records for rushing touchdowns with 29, and total touchdowns with 30. Additionally, the team’s nine sacks broke the C-USA Championship game record.
For the first time since 2008, the Owls are headed to a bowl game! We will face Akron in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl here at FAU Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. I hope you will join me at the game to help cheer the team on to their final win of the season.
