As we enter the home stretch of a busy fall semester, we pause this week to reflect on all we have to be thankful for. One of the many things that I am thankful for is this university. So many good things are happening here at FAU, due in large part to the environment of openness, diversity and inclusion that our faculty, staff and student body have cultivated over the 52 years since the university opened. In fact, we value diversity so much that it is a platform of FAU’s Strategic Plan for the Race to Excellence. We’ve also included four other platforms directly related to it: community engagement; global perspectives; leadership; and peace, justice and human rights.

College is a great time of discovery and our students are fortunate to be able to learn almost as much about the world and different cultures from each other as they do in the classroom. The spirit of fellowship and inclusion that was celebrated at our country’s very first Thanksgiving is alive and well here at FAU every day.
