While every week at FAU is full of activities, this one is really jam-packed. We’re participating in two worldwide observances – Global Entrepreneurship Week and International Education Week. Both celebrate the opportunities for growth and prosperity that can be realized in the shrinking world of the 21st century.
Sports events are plentiful, too. Women’s basketball will face Cleveland State tonight at 7 p.m. and go up against Western Illinois Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games will be held in FAU Arena. The men’s basketball team will face the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on Sunday, with tip-off at 5 p.m. You can watch the out-of-town action on the Fox Sports Network. On Saturday, our football team will meet the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 106.3. Go Owls!
It’s also a banner week for the arts, as two exhibitions open and two musical programs are presented. Winning entries submitted to the “FAU Students Photograph the World” contest will be on display on the first floor of the Wimberly Library through February. All the photos were taken by FAU students who took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad last year. The Schmidt Gallery is hosting an exhibition titled “Altarations: Built, Blended, Processed.” This collection of photo-based art includes the work of more than 20 contemporary artists from the U.S. and abroad.
On Saturday, the FAU Wind Ensemble will present a concert in the University Theatre, beginning at 7 p.m. On Sunday the talents of our musicians will be on display at Band-O-Rama in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park Amphitheater. Performing groups will include the Wind Ensemble, the Jazz Band, Chamber ensembles and the FAU Marching Owls. The free show will start at 6 p.m.
As we move toward the end of this busy week, we look forward to next week when we’ll pause to reflect and give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving!
