Saturday, the last day of this year’s week-long Homecoming celebration, brought thousands of potential FAU alumni to campus to attend our second expo for high school students. This time, the visiting students were from high schools throughout Broward County. Nearly 10,000 students, and their family and friends, accepted our invitation to register for the event. They received information from all our colleges, as well as the many offices that provide services to students, such as admissions, housing and financial aid. In the evening, they attended the Homecoming football game in FAU Stadium. Five lucky high school students won $6,000 freshman-year scholarships at a drawing held during the game.
While we take pride in the fact that FAU serves students from all over the country and the world, we make a special effort to reach out to local high school students. FAU was established 50 years ago specifically to provide South Floridians with access to higher education, and we will always take that mission very seriously. The expos showcase all that FAU has to offer them, right in their own backyard.
