Thinking of Everyone Affected by Hurricane Michael

Today, we watch with sadness the many reports of devastation in Florida’s Panhandle from Hurricane Michael, which made landfall yesterday as a Category 4 storm. Many structures were damaged or destroyed, and a great number of residents are without power. This includes the service areas of our fellow state institutions, Florida A&M, Florida State, and the University of West Florida. Florida State has a satellite campus in Panama City Beach, one of the hardest hit areas. Additionally, more than 150 FAU students and alumni are from the Panhandle and Big Bend areas. My thoughts are with everyone who was affected by this catastrophic storm.

FAU is ready and able to help our students and fellow institutions during this difficult time. Many relief organizations also are reaching out to help. Please click here for more information about how to contribute to the relief effort.

Although we are nearing the end of hurricane season, we must remain alert and prepared. If a tropical storm or hurricane approaches our service area, the University will share updates through a variety of communication platforms.
