This Friday, we will celebrate the achievements of eight FAU sports legends as they are inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Inductees include founding softball coach Joan Joyce, baseball coach John McCormack, founding football coach Howard Schnellenberger, basketball player and Olympic speedskating bronze medalist Brittany Bowe, baseball player Jeff Fiorentino, football players Alfred Morris and Rusty Smith, and softball player Chris Sutcliffe.
The 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are great representatives of the values we strive to uphold here at FAU. When Brian White joined the university as director of athletics, he brought with him the philosophy “win it right.” That means we value character, service, and academic excellence just as much as we value athletic excellence. Not only did our 2019 Hall of Fame inductees excel in their respective sports, but they did it right, with the highest level of integrity, as evidenced by their great success.
Congratulations to Joan, John, Howard, Brittany, Jeff, Alfred, Rusty, and Chris, on this well-deserved recognition. We are very proud to call you Owls.
