Celebrating Hispanic Heritage

Last Friday kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month, our nation’s annual celebration of Hispanic/Latin history, culture and achievements. Hispanic Heritage Month spans a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15.

We take great pride in the fact that FAU is the most diverse university in the state system and one of the most diverse in the country. With more than 25 percent full-time Hispanic undergraduate students, FAU is designated a Hispanic-serving institution by the U.S. Department of Education. This designation is helping FAU’s efforts to bring new programs to campus and secure new grants that will allow us to better serve this growing population of students.

FAU will host a variety of Hispanic Heritage Month events on our Boca Raton, Jupiter and Broward campuses over the next month, including group discussions, dance lessons, movie nights and more. I encourage everyone to take part in our festivities and celebrate the wonderful impact that Hispanic and Latin Americans have had on our state and nation.
