While yesterday was a day of celebration for many of our summer graduates, we had to cancel the 5 p.m. ceremony and evacuate the Student Union, due to what law enforcement considered a credible threat. We understand how disappointed the graduates and their families must be, but the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is our top priority.
More than 450 students from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and Charles E. Schmidt College of Science were scheduled to participate in the ceremony. We are working on other options to give these graduates the recognition they deserve. They will be contacted soon with details.
