While many students use the summer to travel, work or take additional classes, some combine all three with an immersive internship experience. One of those students is Honors College junior and Flagler Scholar, Christy Folk. She recently interned with the Environmental Services of Milliken Forestry Company, which provides long-term forest management throughout the southeastern United States. Christy learned the importance of environmental conservation through her work with endangered species in Florida and wetland mitigation in South Carolina. Last summer, she spent six weeks in Guatemala working with a non-profit organization to provide scholarships for Mayan students.
Internships are a great way for students to learn more about fields of interest and possible career options, while gaining valuable work experience. FAU offers many opportunities for internships throughout the year, both on and off campus. For more information, visit www.fau.edu/career/students/intern.php.
