The end-of-semester celebration continued today as the fourth class of physicians graduated from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. The 65 exceptional students in the Class of 2018 were selected from a field of more than 3,200 applicants.
A record-high 19 of our graduates were hooded by parents, siblings or spouses who are physicians. The ceremony also featured the commissioning of five students who will serve as physicians in the U.S. Armed Forces. Emma Craig and Michael Migita will serve in the U.S. Air Force, Trevor Reitz will serve in the U.S. Army, and Kristen Azzam and Jena Glavy will serve in the U.S. Navy. Jena’s father, Major General Matthew G. Glavy (U.S. Marine Corps), administered her oath.
One-third of the graduating class will enter primary care specialties. Others will enter highly competitive residency programs such as urology, anesthesiology, dermatology, neurology, orthopedics and surgery specialties.
Congratulations, Owl M.D.s! We are very proud of you.
