Today we celebrated a transformational gift from Bobby and Barbara Campbell: $5 million to create the Bobby and Barbara Campbell Academic Success Center in the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence. This gift from the Campbells boosts our funds raised to more than $28 million in just 16 months, enabling us to begin the engineering and architectural design process.
Bobby Campbell rose through the ranks of the shoe industry at Kinney Shoe Company and eventually founded BBC International in 1975, which has become one of the leading children's and athletic footwear design and sourcing companies in the world. He is an active philanthropist and has been a longtime supporter of educational and children's issues. In addition to this gift, the Campbells have been loyal supporters of the annual "Keep Memories Alive" walk, benefiting the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center at FAU's Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.
The Bobby and Barbara Campbell Academic Success Center, a 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility, will create an environment that fosters development, reinforces the highest academic standards, and provides the resources to prepare our student-athletes for careers beyond collegiate athletics.
Thank you, Bobby & Barbara Campbell!
