$3 Million Grant Helps to Expand Dementia Prevention Initiative

Dr. Jim Galvin, director of FAU’s Comprehensive Center for Brain Health (CCBH), received a $3 million, three-year grant from The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation to expand the Dementia Prevention Initiative (DPI). This is the second major contribution FAU has received from The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation in less than two years. A $1 million grant in 2017 helped to launch the CCBH on our Boca Raton campus. It is one of the few centers in the world focusing on dementia prevention, and the only one that uses Dr. Galvin’s innovative protocol for detecting and treating a variety of brain disorders.

FAU’s Dementia Prevention Initiative uses the latest biological advances, combined with personalized evaluation and prevention plans, to reduce risk in patients. The new grant will enable FAU to continue its longitudinal study of brain aging and dementia, and share data and information with researchers and the public.

We truly appreciate The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation’s confidence in our Dementia Prevention Initiative, and ongoing support of Dr. Galvin and his important research. For more information about FAU’s Comprehensive Center for Brain Health, visit http://med.fau.edu/ccbh.
