Arthur Jaffe: Gone But Never Forgotten

On Valentine’s Day, the FAU community paid tribute to a man whose love for FAU was boundless – Arthur Jaffe, the founder and first curator of the Jaffe Center for Book Arts in the Wimberly Library.

Arthur passed away on Jan. 25 at the age of 93. Although he “officially” retired when he turned 90, he continued to come to his campus office on an almost daily basis for the next three years. First as an enthusiastic volunteer and later as a deeply involved donor and Jaffe Center director, Arthur was a member of the FAU family for two decades, and during that time he touched the lives of countless people in our student body, on our faculty and staff, and in the greater community. We are fortunate, indeed, that the path of this remarkable man’s life led him to our door. We will always remember him and his legacy will live on forever.
