It's no secret that I'm extremely proud of FAU's distinction as the most racially, ethnically and culturally diverse state university in Florida, and I'm reminded of that richness of diversity as we celebrate Black History Month with a full schedule of events.
FAU's celebration of African-American history and culture officially began in January as we hosted several events in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including an address by well-known diversity speaker Tim Wise. This month we've already hosted a variety of Black History Month events across our Boca, Davie and Jupiter campuses, with more to come including lunch and learn discussions, movie screenings, and the finale, the Afro-Latino Cultural Celebration on Feb. 24. As we continue to honor the achievements of African Americans, I encourage everyone to take part in Black History Month festivities and celebrate the diversity that makes FAU so special.
