Tomorrow is the last day at FAU for Dorothy Russell, who will retire after 10 years of service here, and a distinguished 40-year career in higher education. After a decade as Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at the University of Michigan-Flint, Dorothy joined FAU in 2007 as Associate Vice President for Finance, becoming Vice President and CFO in 2013.
As CFO, Dorothy was instrumental in helping us “Budget to the Plan” — a guiding principle of FAU’s Strategic Plan, and in 2016 she was recognized by the South Florida Business Journal as Chief Financial Officer of the Year for Non-profit Organizations.
I would like to thank Dorothy for her many years of outstanding service to FAU and for the guidance she has provided to me and the university’s Executive Leadership Team.
I have selected David (Art) Kite to serve as Interim Vice President for Financial Affairs while a search is completed for a permanent replacement. His appointment is effective Feb. 1. Art joins FAU with more than 35 years of experience with Bank of America, where he served in a number of leadership roles including senior vice president. Most recently, Art was Executive Director of Church Administration at Community of Hope Church in Loxahatchee. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the CGMA designation (Chartered Global Management Accountant). A native Floridian, Art grew up in Ft. Myers and Tampa and received a B.S. in Accounting from Florida Southern College.
We wish Dorothy a happy and fulfilling retirement, and welcome Art to FAU!
