FAU to Host Events in Honor of LGBT History Month
Florida Atlantic University will celebrate LGBT History Month with a series of events for students and staff beginning Monday, Oct. 1 through Wednesday, Oct. 31 at its Boca Raton, Jupiter and Broward campuses. The events are free and open to the public.
The following events will take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:
Queer Coffee Hour: LGBTQ+ Dating Violence
Monday, Oct. 1 from noon to 1 p.m.
Glades Park Towers Multipurpose Room
Queer Coffee Hour isan opportunity for LGBTQ+ students and allies to explore and discuss topics related to identity and inclusion.

Drag 101
Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Sago Palm Room, Student Union
Experienced drag artist’s Ariel Rimm and Rianna Petrone provide a real time before and after transformation process. Drag culture and its profound impact on gender expression also will be discussed.

This event allows attendees to decorate a T-shirt with artful messages against sexual assault.

The Safe Zone Ally Training Program educates students on issues relating to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) community and fosters allies throughout FAU’s campus. The goal of Safe Zone is to create a safe and inclusive campus environment for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.

Annual Drag Show
Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m.
Student Union, Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium
FAU’s annual drag show exposes participants to Drag Culture and its history. Locally known artists preform drag theatrically in an environment that promotes inclusion and awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ community.

Coming Out Workshop
Monday, Oct. 10 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Join the conversation about theory and on how to support a family member or friend who may be coming out or is struggling to find their identity. This workshop explores the process and challenges of coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
