FAU College of Business to Host International Business Conference

BOCA RATON, FL (October 15, 2012) – Florida Atlantic University will host the Academy of International Business Southeast (AIB-SE) Conference at various locations in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Wednesday, October 31 through Friday, November 2. More than 200 international business scholars, students, practitioners and representatives of the business community from 37 countries and 6 continents are expected to be in attendance. The conference is open to the public and registration can be found online at www.aibse.org.

“FAU was the clear and unanimous choice of the Executive Board of the Academy of International Business Southeast USA Division as the local host for our 2012 conference given its outstanding reputation in the Southeastern USA and nationally, its remarkable international business programs as well as its exceptional faculty,” said Daniel Rottig, Ph.D., vice chairman and 2012 conference chair, AIB-SE and 2008 alumnus of FAU’s doctoral program in management.

The 2012 conference theme is “Institutions and Emerging Markets” and will feature interactive and competitive paper sessions, panel discussions, doctoral and undergraduate and Master student consortiums, professional development workshops and a keynote address from AIB fellow, Oded Shenkar, Ph.D. Other highlights of the conference include a tour of Port Everglades on Wednesday, October 31, and a waterside tour of Fort Lauderdale, known as the ‘Venice of America,’ on a privately chartered yacht on Thursday, November 1.

“We are honored to be hosting the conference as it is a strong affirmation of FAU’s international business programs and it recognizes that Southeast Florida and FAU are at the epicenter of international business and the global recreational marine industry,” says Michael Mullen, PhD., FAU host representative and professor of marketing and international business.

The Academy of International Business is the world’s leading association for international business researchers, with more than 3,000 members and 16 regional chapters throughout the world. AIB-SE is one of the Academy of International Business’ two largest and most active regional chapters, supporting an annual conference, a journal and a doctoral consortium.
