FAU to Host Grammy-Winning Singer Matt Alber for ‘Lost Valentine’ Concert

BOCA RATON, Fla.  (February 6, 2013) ─ Florida Atlantic University’s Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts will host Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Matt Alber for the “Lost Valentine” concert on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Jaffe Centeron the third floor of the Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Doors open at 7 p.m. with a reception and cash bar.

Alber will present an evening of original songs in his third appearance at the center, playing his acoustic guitar as well as a Yamaha baby grand piano recently donated to the library by FAU benefactors Donald and Freya Homer of Boca Raton. The classically trained Alber is best known for “End of the World,” a 1960s-themed music video that was shot at his barbershop in Los Angeles and also featured in his 2008 debut album, which earned an Out Music Award.

The Seattle-based musician’s second album “Constant Crows,” focuses on gay spirituality, and was released in 2011. Alber has recorded two Grammy-winning albums with Chanticleer, an all-male a cappella chorale. He routinely donates some of the proceeds of his ticket sales to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth causes.
