FAU and the City of Boca Raton Present a Free Concert of Broadway Show Tunes
BOCA RATON (May 29, 2008) -- The department of theatre and dance in the School of the Arts in Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the City of Boca Raton and the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park invite the public to bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy a free concert featuring the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein and other Broadway legends. The concert, “Broadway in Boca Raton: A Festival Rep Preview,” will take place on Saturday, June 14 at 8 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre, located at 590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. It will include music from “Carousel,” “Evita,” “A Chorus Line” and other Broadway shows, and will feature professional and student actors who will perform in FAU’s summer Festival Repertory productions of “Carousel” and “Evita.”
Concert goers will hear some of the most unforgettable songs in American musical theater including, “June is Bustin’ Out All Over,” ”You'll Never Walk Alone,” “If I Loved You” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” They will also have a chance to hear some of the outstanding talent that will be part of this year’s Festival Rep.
This is the 10 th year of FAU’s Festival Rep, which is a presentation of rotating plays. This year, it runs from Friday, June 20 through Sunday, July 27 in FAU’s University and Studio One theatres on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.
